Volume I – Musical initiation

A didactic presentation of the principles of the 1st and 2nd degrees, clearly identified by titles; the sequences, animated by Jacques Chapuis, were filmed live and without retakes with children from the music school of Irigny (France), directed at the time by Nicole Corti (plus a rhythmic sequence with the Italian pupils of Franca Cividino).

Volume II – Pre-solfegic and pre-instrumental degree, solfegic degree

The passage from the concrete of the first two degrees of initiation to the abstract of reading and writing remains a challenge that greatly interested Edgar Willems; one can observe this very methodical passage from sequence to sequence, through which the life and joy of the children must be preserved; this challenge remains just as demanding when solfeggio is approached; Jacques Chapuis offers here telling examples of the melodic and harmonic expressiveness improvised by the teacher, with an ever-present rhythmic life.
